On November 28, Varna hosted the third “Plums for Trash” plogging event

As part of the year-long “Plums for Trash” initiative, the international corporation KYB organized another environmental plogging walk in Varna — combining outdoor activity with cleaning public spaces.

The third autumn plogging of 2025 took place around the Early Christian monastery in the Djanavara area — one of Varna’s key archaeological sites, located in the Borovets park near the Asparuhovo district.

The location was chosen deliberately: KYB consistently supports urban and natural areas that require special care. The ruins of the 5th–7th century basilica often suffer from household waste, despite their cultural importance and influence on the city’s tourist image.

Participants managed to collect 85 kg of waste in the surrounding area and nearby green zones. As before, all collected waste will be sorted and recycled — and the plastic will later become part of a new urban art installation.

This third event continued the work done by dedicated volunteers on previous routes — in the Golden Sands Nature Park and along the coastline from Galata to Pasha Dere. 

“With every event, it becomes increasingly clear how significant the contribution of residents can be to improving the urban environment. For KYB, as a corporation of responsible developers, it is important to initiate such projects. This makes our efforts in urban improvement a part of community life,”said Oleg Nevzorov, founder of KYB.

In addition to the satisfaction of doing something meaningful, plogging participants receive a symbolic embroidered “plum” badge — for each event they join and for every friend they bring along. At the end of the 12-month cycle, the most active volunteer will receive a special prize from KYB.
